Skin irregularities

If you suffer from skin imperfections, these can be easily and safely removed by means of electrocoagulation. Electrocoagulation uses a pen-shaped device with a thin needle at the end. The pen is linked to a device that supplies the needle with steam. When the current passes through the needle, heat is created.

Indications

  • Couperose
  • Telangiectasias (dilated vessels)
  • Spider nevus (vascular bump from which small red blood vessels fan out like a spider's legs)
  • Blood blisters
  • Fibroids (age wart)
  • Xanthelasma

Before treatment

It is important to avoid sun exposure for 4 weeks prior to treatment. That means no sunbed or extensive sunbathing during a sun holiday. Of course you can just walk outside. If the sun shines brightly, it is important that you apply good sun protection.

The treatment

The skin therapist takes pre-photos prior to the treatment in order to easily map out the effect of the treatment. She then disinfects the area to be treated. The pen-shaped device is supplied with power and as soon as the thin needle lightly touches the skin, heat is generated and the (excess) tissue can be burned.

After the treatment

The treated area shows some redness after the treatment. This redness usually disappears after a few hours. In addition, scabs may form on the treated site. It is important not to touch this because otherwise it can lead to pigmentation and/or scarring. It is also important that the skin is rested after the treatment and that it is irritated as little as possible. For this reason, avoid heat sources, spicy food, alcohol, vasodilating medication and alcohol.

1Is the treatment painful?
The treatment is not experienced as very painful. In most cases, a local heat sensation is observed. This heat decreases over time. The skin can also be cooled.
2How many treatments do I need?
Minor skin conditions usually disappear after one treatment. Multiple treatments may be required for a large number of imperfections. An interval of two weeks is required here so that the skin can recover sufficiently.
3How do I know if this treatment is right for me?
Our skin therapist has a lot of experience with electrocoagulation. Would you like to know whether this treatment is suitable for you, or would you like more information about it? Then schedule a consultation with our specialist and discuss your questions, wishes and expectations.
