Microdermabrasion is a mechanical peeling that removes dead skin cells and improves the structure of the skin.

Microdermabrasion is een mechanische peeling die dode huidcellen verwijdert en de structuur van de huid verbetert.

Microdermabrasion literally means 'skin (derma) grinding (brasion) on a micro level'. And that is exactly what the treatment entails. During the treatment, the device blows small crystals onto the skin under high pressure. As a result, the crystals "scour" away the layer of dead skin cells. This causes the skin layer below to come to the surface.

Microdermabrasion improves the skin

Healthy and young skin renews itself every 30 days. This is a natural peeling of the skin. Old age, certain skin conditions and poor eating habits disrupt this natural process. The skin then renews itself less quickly and dead skin cells accumulate. This can make the skin look lifeless and dull. A microdermabrasion treatment removes the top layer of skin and improves the skin structure.

What skin problems does microdermabrasion address?

Microdermabrasion is not suitable for every skin type. You should not simply undergo this treatment for certain skin problems. During a first appointment, the specialists will determine whether the treatment is suitable for your skin.

Microdermabrasion is ideal for tackling skin problems and conditions such as:

  • Superficial pigment spots
  • Lifeless skin
  • Clogged pores
  • Sagging skin
  • Shallow wrinkles and fine lines in the skin
  • Acne scars
  • Smoker's skin
  • Milia
  • Oily skin and acne
  • Skin damage from the sun

How does a microdermabrasion treatment work?

During the treatment, our beautician moves the head of the device evenly over your skin. The headpiece of the device vacuums your skin and simultaneously blows very fine crystals onto the skin. This gives a slightly abrasive effect and ensures that dead skin cells are removed. The suction effect of the device also ensures better blood circulation in the skin. In addition, it stimulates the production of new skin cells.

After all crystals have been removed from the skin, our specialist will restore the skin with a post-treatment tailored to the skin.

How many treatments do I need?

The number of treatments required for optimal results varies from person to person. Age and skin condition play an important role. As we age, cell division slows down. As a result, more treatments are often required for optimal results. Any skin conditions determine the intensity with which the treatment is performed. During a first appointment, we analyze your skin and put together a personal treatment plan for you.

After the microdermabrasion treatment

After the treatment, your skin may look slightly red or feel tight. This is completely normal and will subside within hours to days. We recommend that you avoid direct sunlight in the days after the treatment. To protect the skin extra well against the sun, we recommend applying a sunscreen with a high factor. Local flakes may develop a few days after the treatment. This is part of the skin renewal process. Try to leave the skin alone and not touch it. The skin will recover on its own.

During the treatment dead skin cells are removed and the blood circulation of skin cells is stimulated. This makes the skin look fresher, healthier and more even after the first treatment. For the most optimal result, we recommend undergoing a number of treatments. Superficial scars will become less visible, wrinkles and lines will fade and pores will become smaller.
